[스포츠서울 김용일기자] The official Twitter of the FIFA World Cup celebrated the 45th birthday of Ahn Jung-hwan, a broadcaster who gained fame as a’World Cup star’ during his active career.

The FIFA World Cup Twitter posted on the 27th (Korean time) a video of the three goals of the World Cup finals that Ahn Jung-hwan scored during his active career along with the words “The moment of a Korean legend is eternal”. He said,’Congratulations to Ahn Jung-hwan’s 45th birthday’.

Ahn Jung-hwan, born on January 27, 1976, joined the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup finals, playing for Italy Serie A Perugia, in the group stage in the United States (1-1 draws) and the 16-finals Italy (2-1 wins). I tasted the goal with my head in succession. In particular, in the match against Italy, he missed the penalty kick in the first half and scored a dramatic heading winning goal in extra time, leading Korea to the quarterfinals. After playing an active part in the J-League Shimizu S-Pulse and Yokohama Marinos, he scored the winning goal with a right-footed mid-range gun in the first match of the group stage against Togo (2-1 wins) even in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Having made a name for the 2010 South African World Cup finals, he retired the following year after playing for Dalian Shide, China. Ahn Jung-hwan still holds the tie record for the most Koreans (three goals) in the World Cup final with Park Ji-sung and Son Heung-min.

Comments on Ahn Jung-hwan’s posts are also varied. In addition to acknowledging Ahn Jung-hwan’s performances, such as’He was a great player’ and’The hottest scene in football history’, the contents of’the most stolen game in the history of football’ and’the shameful game’ were also noticeable. This is related to the suspicion that Referee Byron Moreno made a decision in favor of Korea during the Italian War, written by Italians and several European netizens. A Japanese netizen wrote,’I respect Ahn Jung-hwan and Korea, but this match (Korea-Italy match) was the worst match in 2002′. Then, another netizen confronted the Italian player’s unsportsmanlike play, such as Francesco Totti’s deliberate diving at the time.
