Last year, the export of processed chicken meat in Korea reached a record high.
According to the’Promising AI Report Chicken Processed Meat’ released on the 18th by the Korea International Trade Association Institute for International Trade, Korea’s export of processed chicken meat increased 59.5% year-on-year to a record high of 21 million dollars. It was analyzed that this was because exports of Samgyetang convenience food and chicken breast increased significantly due to the increase in demand for home convenience food worldwide and the influence of the Korean Wave.
As a result of analyzing nine indicators such as gross domestic product (GDP), population, imports, and regulations of 58 major countries, the market with the highest export potential of processed chicken meat in Korea was Hong Kong (88.9 points), followed by Singapore (88.6 points). ), Japan (88.2 points), and the United States (86.8 points).
Hong Kong is the country with the second largest export of processed chicken meat after the United States, and exported $4.96 million in 2020, an increase of 162.4% from the previous year. The Korean market share also continues to rise from 0.1% in 2016 to 0.4% in 2019, and the basic tax rate for processed chicken meat is 0%. Recently, Korean Wave stars’ chicken breast diet was introduced in the Hong Kong media, and it seems to have had a positive effect on the market preference for Korean chicken.

The right export support should be further expanded.”
