Kim Ki-moon, 57, who was fishing on the bank next to Bonggokcheon in Hwamok-dong, Gimhae-si at around 12:29 on the 21st, looked around after hearing the sound of something falling into the water. At that moment, in the eyes of Mr. A, a car with three family members of Mr. A (in his early 50s) slipped from the farm road next to Gabonggokcheon and fell into the water.
The police know that Mr. A stuck his car at the edge of the farm road to give way to a vehicle coming from the opposite side, slipped aside and fell into an agricultural waterway (150cm deep) 3m below. The water wasn’t deep, but the car turned over and the water pressure caused Mr. A and his party to be unable to open the car door and escape outside.
After witnessing the accident, Mr. Kim plunged into the water with the car overturned. When Mr. Kim, who is 160cm tall, entered the water, the water filled to the chest. Kim approached the presumed place toward the driver’s seat, opened the door and waved his hand. The water turned into muddy water as the vehicle was pulled out, and the front was invisible. After a while, a human body was caught in Kim’s hand. As I pulled it hard, Mr. A breathed and appeared out of the car.
Hearing that “two more people are on board,” Kim immediately approached the back seat, opened the water, and stirred his hands again. This time, the hair was in my hand. It was Mr. A’s wife (in her early 50s). After being rescued, Mrs. A breathed a quick breath and immediately told Kim, “I have more sons.” While Mr. Kim was going to the back seat on the other side, Mrs. A saved her son from inside the car, preventing a major accident.
The rescue on this day was like a miracle. If Mr. Kim hadn’t jumped into the water, Mr. A’s family would have suffered a major catastrophe. In particular, Mr. Kim had an accident in his workplace and had a disability in his lower body. There wasn’t a big problem with my usual life, but it was a situation where I had to be careful to use great strength after being judged with a disability level 4, but Kim saw A’s vehicle turn over and jumped into the cold water without covering anything from front to back.
Bonggokcheon is a place where Mr. Kim sometimes comes to fish, and he has been fishing with his acquaintances in other places. The day before the accident, it rained, and after a long time, he visited Bonggokcheon and did a big job to save Mr. A’s family. It is said that Mr. A’s family expressed their gratitude to Kim several times immediately after the rescue.
Kim, who saved his family, told JoongAng Ilbo on the 22nd that he jumped into the water in cold weather and had a light body, but he was proud of the idea that he saved someone’s family. Mr. Kim said, “It wasn’t easy to jump into the water because I was an uncomfortable person, but at that time I didn’t even know that I put my phone in the water and the power was not turned on. I thought that it was because I was doing a good job.”
