Republican congressmen, a political party belonging to US President Donald Trump, are expected to propose a condemnation of President Donald Trump in connection with the invasion of protesters in the parliament on the 6th (local time).
Congressman Tom Reed (New York) said in a contribution to the New York Times (NYT) on the 11th.
Reed said Congress should look for ways to ban President Trump from sitting in federal office in the future. “I signed a condemnation resolution with colleagues in the House of Representatives on the 12th so that I can immediately hold responsibility for what happened on January 6th. “I plan to propose.”
He said in a contribution that President Trump said that he should be held accountable for the riots that occurred at the Capitol on the 6th, but it is a difficult issue that requires a thorough review of how to take responsibility.
He then stressed that the impeachment bill initiated by the Democratic Party of the House of Representatives was not the correct answer. He pointed out that there was not enough time to reasonably investigate, present, and discuss the impeachment.
Reed also explained that President Trump’s remarks may have been stupid, unrestrained, and wrong, but cannot be viewed as agitation regarding the charges of “incitement to civil war” in the House impeachment bill raised by the Democrats.
He urged, “Fearing that the hasty impeachment process could rather fuel division among the people, Congress should cooperate to come up with a constitutionalally feasible alternative to ensure that no one stands above the law.”
