On the second Easter after the Corona 19 pandemic, Pope Francis called for solidarity with the international community, saying, “The vaccine needs to be distributed even to poor countries.” Pope Francis said at an Easter Mass held at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican on the 4th, “I urge the international community to take responsibility and work hard to overcome the delay in supply of (vaccines), especially in the least developed countries.” During the coronavirus pandemic, the Pope said, “Everyone, including the most vulnerable, needs help,” said the Pope. Vaccines are an essential tool in this fight.” The Pope criticized with a strong tone the armed conflict, which worsened even in the midst of the pandemic. “The pendemic is still spreading,” the Pope said. “The socio-economic crisis is serious, especially for the poor.” He then emphasized “peaceful conflict resolution efforts and human rights” by referring to the Tigray region of Ethiopia, where civil war continues. He also mentioned the situation in Myanmar, where the military is bloody suppressing democratic protesters. “I want to show my closeness to the young Myanmar people who support democracy and speak peaceful voices,” the Pope said. The Pope announces an Easter message to tens of thousands of believers gathered in the square from the balcony on the second floor of St. Peter’s Basilica. This year, the message was released with only 200 believers and officials present to prevent infection. By Jo Ki-won, staff reporter
