Euiseon Eui-seon next week to Singapore… First overseas business trip after taking office

Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Eui-sun Eui-sun is preparing for his first overseas business trip after taking office. The destination is Singapore. According to the industry on the 20th, Chairman Chung is scheduled to visit the construction site of the Singapore Global Innovation Center (HMGICS) as early as next week.

The Hyundai Motor Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for HMGICS just before Chairman Chung took office in October last year through an online video connection. HMGICS, which aims to be completed at the end of next year, is an open innovation base that studies and demonstrates the entire life cycle of customers’ automobiles, from car ordering to production, test drive, delivery, and service.

With the establishment of HMGICS, Hyundai Motor Group plans to create synergy with local universities in Singapore including Nanyang University of Technology, startups, and research institutes. Therefore, it is also possible that Chairman Chung will meet with local government officials or related industry figures to discuss global collaboration during this on-site inspection in Singapore.

Chairman Chung attended the US International Electronics Show (CES) in January last year, introduced Hyundai Motor Group’s smart mobility solutions, such as Urban Aviation Mobility (UAM), and also attended the Hydrogen Committee CEO General Meeting held in Paris, France in the same month.

Last February, I attended the reception of the National Governor’s Association Winter Conference held at the Korean Embassy in Washington, DC in the United States, and discussed the vision of a future hydrogen society with the governors. Therefore, if I visit Singapore this time, I am going abroad in 11 months.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Company invested in’UVeye,’ an Israeli AI-based scanner specialist, to introduce a technology that checks vehicle defects based on artificial intelligence (AI) technology. UVI has raised 40 million dollars (about 44 billion won) in investment from several companies including Hyundai Motor Company.
