Energy efficiency with metal curtain walls ↑… Zero energy building expansion

[세종=이데일리 김상윤 기자] The government has decided to promote the supply of high-efficiency energy equipment to improve building energy performance.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 28th that they will prepare a plan for cooperation to improve the energy performance of buildings and promote the revision of laws.

The two ministries first decided to promote the supply of high-efficiency energy equipment for construction. The metal curtain wall used for the exterior wall of the building was newly designated as a high-efficiency energy equipment and decided to promote the supply.

Curtain walls are a type of construction method used when constructing the exterior walls of skyscrapers. Glass is generally used as a wall that does not support the load of the building and simply acts as a’curtain’ that divides the space. If a metal such as aluminum is added, the heat shielding effect increases.

The government will also expand loans related to zero energy construction. Next year, it plans to raise up to 15 billion won in financing for the installation of energy-saving facilities and provide financial support for the new energy industry up to 2 billion won.

In addition, in preparation for a sharp increase in the number of zero-energy certifications from next year due to the implementation of the Zero Energy Building Mandatory Roadmap, it has decided to designate an additional certification body to improve the convenience of the public by smoothly performing certification and shortening the time required for certification.

“We will actively cooperate with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to improve the overall efficiency of buildings based on the energy efficiency improvement policy promoted by the Ministry of Industry, such as expanding the application of the equipment efficiency management system to buildings close to people’s lives,” said Kim Jong-il, Ministry of Industry’s Energy Innovation Policy Officer. Mentioned.

Sang-moon Kim, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport emphasized, “We will prepare for the mandatory zero-energy buildings in the private sector in 2025 without a hitch, and will carry out a leading role in realizing the 2050 carbon neutral target.”
