The’Golden Bat’, the first-class endangered wildlife, was found exhausted in Mudeungsan National Park and died. The golden bat is the nickname for the red bat, natural monument No. 452.
According to the Mudeungsan National Park Office on the 2nd, the residents reported to the park office on the 15th of last month when they found a bat that had torn wings and was unable to move in a village in the park area.
The national park side received a report from the residents and rescued the bat and transferred it to the Gwangju Wildlife Rescue Center. The bat, which was transferred to the center, received intensive treatment, but died without regaining health.
The center said, “It was confirmed that it was an endangered species and natural monument No. 452, the red bat.” This red bat is a rare species in the world that is threatened with extinction due to the decline of its population due to ecosystem destruction. This is the first time that a golden bat, protected as a Level 1 endangered species, has been discovered in Mudeungsan National Park.
The national park estimated that the bat was injured while waking up during hibernation in a weakened state and doing outdoor activities.
An official at the Mudeungsan National Park Office said, “The discovery of the golden bat is evidence that the ecosystem of Mudeungsan is healthy.”
