El Corporation expands 3D printer sales next year to automobile, medical, and manufacturing industries

El Corporation (CEO Joon-Hwan Lim), a 3D printing company, announced on the 21st that it will diversify the educational 3D printer business, which has been focused so far, into the fields of architecture, automobiles, medical care and general manufacturing industries next year.

In addition, it plans to actively respond to market and consumer changes caused by Corona 19 to reinforce mobile and non-face-to-face sales, while also expanding various 3D printing services for healthcare, such as quarantine kits and face shields.

Due to the nature of the product, 3D printers often want consumers to check with their own eyes. Previously, offline events such as exhibitions and forums were mainly used. El Corporation explained that it has succeeded in expanding its customers through a change in its sales system focusing on a one-on-one customized roadshow that can advertise 3D printers in a non-face-to-face manner, online webinars (web + seminars), and small group events.

At the Korea’s largest’Inside 3D Printing’ exhibition held in KINTEX, Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do from November 18th to 20th,’Form 3L’, a new product of US Foam Lab, which is popular among consumers, is directly observed while observing quarantine rules as much as possible on site. They also prepared a place to experience and received favorable reviews. Accordingly, El Corporation analyzed that in 2020, 3D printer sales were the most in the fields of education, design and prototype printing, and electronics and electricity.

Expand to 3D printer market, architecture, automobile, medical, general manufacturing industry

The domestic 3D printer market analyzed by the National Information and Communication Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) is expected to record an annual average of 16.2% growth from 340.4 billion won in 2017 to 538.3 billion won in 2020, but this year’s 3D printer as the industrial 3D printer market did not expand more than expected. The market is expected to be lower than this.

However, El Corporation also predicts that this trend will change in 2021. This is because the use of 3D printers is spreading to the automobile (including parts), medical, jewelry, and general manufacturing industries, including architecture, which has not been actively introducing 3D printers.

In fact, FormLab’s 3D printer product line, one of El Corporation’s flagship products, is showing a trend of increasing orders in industries that require precision such as dental and jewelry due to improved printing precision and casting success rate.

In particular, El Corporation plans to actively respond to such market changes, as interest in the medical and bio fields is increasing, and non-face-to-face sales and services due to Corona 19 are expected to continue in 2021.

In the medical and bio fields, Foam Lab’s bio 3D printer will be introduced to domestic consumers. This product is expected to meet consumer demands in the medical and bio fields as it has strengths in various printing materials and precision to suit the industrial characteristics that require precision. In addition, it is actively promoting use cases of furniture and beer companies, and discovering various domestic cases for process innovation in machinery and manufacturing.

Strengthening the non-face-to-face business method

El Corporation plans to pursue a major change in the way it operates. It is expected that this year’s Corona 19 will continue for a considerable period of time next year, and it plans to diversify non-face-to-face services such as online lectures and remote support systems for customers who have difficulty in actual meetings, while actively strengthening mobile marketing.

In addition, we plan to expand the base of 3D printers by emphasizing that 3D printers can embody ingenious ideas into products on the fly, so that face shields and swap prevention kits can be printed conveniently.

Lim Joon-hwan, CEO of L Corporation, said, “The 3D printer industry in our country is lagging behind the leading countries such as the United States, Japan, Germany, and China. Next year, expand the 3D printer application industry to achieve manufacturing innovation in line with the era of the 4th industrial revolution. We will contribute to the development of the domestic 3D printer industry by focusing on the industrial infrastructure.”
