Jeonbuk, a pilot system for employment-only teachers
The Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education is piloting the’employment dedicated teacher system’ in order to support career paths for vocational high school students and enhance their job hunting capabilities. The teacher in charge of employment is in charge of job counseling for specialized high school students, finding leading companies, establishing industry-university cooperation, operating field training, and protecting the human rights of field training students. This year, teachers dedicated to employment will be active in five public specialized high schools and Meister high schools. When selected as an operating school, the principal may appoint a teacher in charge of employment among full-time teachers, and hire a non-capacity teacher for work support and replacement of classes. The teacher in charge is given the minimum number of hours per week of instruction, and the homeroom teacher and the manager cannot serve concurrently. An official from the Provincial Office of Education said, “I hope that the placement of teachers in charge of employment will enhance the employment capacity of vocational high school students and increase safe and excellent employment.”

Gyeongnam, child safety education from April
The Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education and the Korean Committee for UNICEF have signed a business agreement for child safety education using disaster helmets. According to the agreement, the Provincial Office of Education selects and applies for schools to participate in the new month project. From April, safety education experts from the Korean Committee of UNICEF visit the selected schools to teach them.

Safety education is conducted in connection with disaster safety education, one of the seven areas of school safety education, and education schedules are conducted in consultation with each other according to the curriculum of each school. The Korean Committee for UNICEF donates 4,000 disaster helmets to selected schools and conducts safety education. Superintendent Park Jong-hoon said, “We will actively cooperate with the Korean Committee of UNICEF to achieve the results of this agreement in raising children’s safety awareness and improving their ability to cope with crisis situations.”

Support for school trip expenses in Busan, elementary, middle and high schools
The Busan City Office of Education will support school trip expenses to all elementary, middle and high schools starting this year. The support for school trip expenses is to provide opportunities for school trips to all students regardless of family circumstances and to relieve the financial burden on guardians suffering from Corona 19. The Busan City Office of Education expanded support for school trip expenses from the second year of high school in 2019 to the second year of middle school last year. This year, we apply until the 6th grade of elementary school. School trip expenses will be provided temporarily retroactively to students in the 3rd grade of middle school and the 3rd grade of high school this year, who did not receive support for school trips due to Corona 19 last year. The amount of support is 210,000 won per person for 6th graders in elementary school, 220,000 won per person for 2nd graders in middle school, and 400,000 won per person for 2nd year high school students.

Dissemination of textbooks in collaboration with government departments
Textbooks developed together by government ministries will be additionally distributed to high schools from March. The Ministry of Education announced that it will distribute 15 kinds of’Ministry Collaboration Textbooks’ created with nine ministries, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, Information and Communication, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to high schools from March. The ministry collaboration textbook was developed to reflect the latest knowledge and technology in the textbook by utilizing the expertise of government ministries. Following the first development and distribution of five textbooks last year, 15 additional textbooks were developed this time, and a total of 60 textbooks are planned to be distributed to vocational high schools and other school sites by next year.

The ministry collaboration textbooks are divided into’Ministry-led type’, in which the cooperative ministries are in charge of both budget and development, the budget by the Ministry of Education, and’Ministry-Supported Type’, where the cooperative ministries support professional manpower and technology respectively. The Ministry of Defense (Marine Communications, Self-propelled Artillery Operation), Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Youth and Media), Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (Food Safety and Health), and Forest Service (Basic Forestry) developed five types. The Ministry of Science and ICT (information protection theory, information protection practice), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Koreans in the world), Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (understanding game planning, data structure and game algorithm), Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock (understanding of smart agriculture, industrial insects), The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (Practice of Ornamental Creatures, Introduction to Marine Police Science), and the Fire Department (Fire Protection) participated in developing a total of 10 species.
