Korea East-West Power (President Il-Joon Park), together with Ulsan, the hydrogen city, is actively promoting the hydrogen economy by expanding eco-friendly fuel cell power plants and developing hydrogen source technology.

On the 26th, on the 26th, on the 26th, on the occasion of the 2nd Ulsan Hydrogen Industry Day, East-West Power announced the current status of hydrogen industry R&D and demonstration projects in cooperation with Ulsan City and future plans.

In line with the government’s roadmap to revitalize the hydrogen economy, East-West Power will invest 5.8 trillion won by 2030 to expand the capacity of fuel cell facilities to 1GW (Gigawatt). Established.

As part of that, it is promoting the commercialization of hydrogen fuel cells based on Nexo hydrogen electric vehicle technology with Hyundai Motor Company and Deokyang. By 2022, a demonstration project will be carried out at the 1MW (megawatt) class hydrogen fuel cell installed at the Ulsan Power Plant headquarters.

In addition, by May next year, the company plans to develop the source technology for hydrogen power generation using carbon dioxide in the exhaust gas of power plants in cooperation with the Ulsan Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST). It is expected to produce high-purity hydrogen and electric power at the same time, and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

It is also promoting the construction of a hydrogen fuel cell power plant that can generate electricity for 250,000 households.

East-West Power plans to expand its facilities to 100MW by gradually increasing its facilities in the future, starting with the 20MW Daewon fuel cell (located in Buk-gu, Ulsan), which is about to be completed this year. In addition, it will continue to promote the urban renewable fuel cell business and profit-sharing business, and contribute to the localization of power generation facilities through the hydrogen mixed gas gas turbine demonstration project in 2026.

President Park Il-joon said, “Based on a solid partnership with Ulsan City, we will work with local companies to revitalize the hydrogen economy, such as expanding renewable energy and developing hydrogen source technologies, and creating jobs to contribute to the realization of social values.”
