[세종=뉴스핌] Reporter Eun-Seok Lim = Korea East-West Power has successfully built a 6.5 ㎿ scale’electric power intermediary roof solar power stage 1’in Ulsan industrial complex for the first time in Korea based on public-private, public cooperation.

On the 5th, East-West Power held the’Ulsan Industrial Complex Power Intermediate Roof Solar Power Phase 1 Completion Ceremony’ in the Ulsan Ulju-gun Free Trade Zone, attended by Ulsan City Deputy Mayor Cho Won-kyung and Park Il-jun, President of East-West Power.

The power intermediary roof photovoltaic business is a business that the intermediary manages and operates the solar power generation facilities distributed by factories, and collects the generated electricity and sells it to the power exchange. The revenue generated is shared with the industrial complex enterprises.

Afterwards, a total of 6.5 ㎿ of solar power generation facilities was completed by utilizing the roof idle sites and vacant lands of 3 industrial complexes and 12 tenant companies in Ulsan.

The project gained favorable response from the local community for overcoming the limitations of solar power supply that have been promoted by individual companies, and cooperating with all the local communities to propose a new model for the supply of renewable energy and the new energy industry.

East-West Power will be able to provide eco-friendly energy without environmental destruction and take the lead in responding to climate change and carbon neutrality. The industrial complex resident companies, which used to be energy consumers, participated in the eco-friendly energy supply business and took on the role of energy prosumers.

This project will supply 168,000 ㎿ of eco-friendly electricity for 20 years and produce electricity that can be used by 2,340 households per month. Through this, it is expected to achieve the same greenhouse gas reduction effect (78,000 tons) equivalent to planting 1,174 million pine trees. It is predicted that East-West Power will generate about 3.9 billion won in revenue and create 130 jobs for participating companies.

Based in Ulsan, East-West Power is currently building 13 MW (cumulative) power intermediary roof solar power in 25 locations in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam. It plans to expand the supply of eco-friendly energy nationwide in the future.

Park Il-joon, president of East-West Power, said, “The electric power intermediary roof photovoltaic business in industrial complexes is a new regional win-win eco-friendly energy project that realizes social values such as supplying eco-friendly energy and creating jobs through regional win-win cooperation.” We will continue to promote new businesses with our social value as a top priority.”
