Mercedes-Benz E-Class showed’China is a Class’ and took the top spot in imported car sales for 5 consecutive years.

According to statistics from the Korea Imported Vehicles Association on the 6th, 32,480 Mercedes-Benz E-Class were sold last year. It is the most sold car model.

Last year, nearly half of Mercedes-Benz Korea’s total sales of 76,879 units belonged to the Mercedes E-Class. It is more than the total number of sales of Audi, which is the third place in the sales of imported car brands (25,513 units).

The first place in the best-selling car compiled by the Imports Association was also occupied by the Mercedes E class. The Mercedes E250 rose to the top with 10,321 units sold last year. The only sales volume exceeded 10,000 units.

The Mercedes E300 4matic finished third with 7835 units. Two models were included in the top 10 selling only E-class. The second place was taken by Volkswagen Tiguan (8631 units).

The BMW 520, a competitor of the Mercedes E-Class, ranked 4th with 6948 units, the Lexus ES300h 6th with 5732 units, and the Audi A6 40 TDI 8th with 4923 units.

The Mercedes E-Class also set a record for five consecutive years after the 10th generation model was released in June 2016. The New Benz E-Class, launched in October last year, contributed to maintaining the No. 1 position by raising sales boom in November-December.

The new BMW 5 Series, which was released in the same month, went on a last-minute chase, but it did not succeed in reversing.

The New Benz E-Class was able to include 5 models in the top 10 sales last month.

The Mercedes E250 was overwhelmingly ranked first with 3641 units, the Mercedes E300e 4matics ranked 3rd with 950 units, the Benz E350 4matics ranked 6th with 614 units, and the Mercedes E220d 4matics ranked 7th with 606 units.

Among the competitors of the New Benz E-Class, the Lexus ES300h ranked fourth with 913 units and the Audi A6 40 TDI with 560 units.

Thanks to the propaganda of The New Benz E-Class, Benz Korea also maintained the No. 1 position in Imports for 5 consecutive years. Benz Korea sold a total of 76,879 units last year. The market share of imported cars is 27.9%. It decreased 1.6% from the previous year (78,133 units). There was no problem in winning the first place.

The secret to the popularity of The New Benz E-Class is a more dynamic design, more luxurious materials, more diverse safety and convenience specifications, and a more powerful and efficient powertrain.

The second place in the sales of imported car brands is BMW Korea, which recorded 58,393 units. The market share is 21.2%.

BMW Korea has been in the last minute pursuit with the new BMW 5 Series from October. There was not enough time to catch up with Mercedes Korea. Instead, sales increased by 32.1% from the previous year. The possibility of a major counterattack remains.
