[이코노믹리뷰=편은지 기자] E-Mart and SSG.com announced on the 31st that pre-order sales of gift sets for the Lunar New Year this year reached a record high.
E-Mart and SSG.com analyzed the sales of pre-booking gift sets for this year’s New Year, and found that E-Mart increased 53% and SSG.com 97.1% compared to the previous year’s pre-booking period. This is the highest during the pre-booking period for the New Year.
It is analyzed that sets priced at more than KRW 100,000 recorded a large increase in sales, leading to an increase in total gift set sales.
In particular, sales of premium sets at a price of 200,000 won or more increased significantly. It is interpreted that the demand for high-priced gifts has increased due to the spread of the non-face-to-face holiday atmosphere due to Corona 19.
During the pre-booking period for E-Mart’s New Year gift sets this year, sales of premium gift sets over 200,000 won increased 79.8% compared to the same period last year. SSG.com also saw a 212.8% increase in sets of over 200,000 won, leading to an increase in overall gift set sales.
Accordingly, E-Mart has further expanded the supply of premium gift sets. The amount of premium set preparations over 300,000 won, such as the 1st Luxury Gold Chamgulbi, the Peacok Hoengseong Livestock Korean Beef 1++ Ribs Set, and the Picoque Hoengseong Livestock Korean Beef 1++ Grill 2 Set, has increased by 30% compared to the New Year of last year.
E-Mart and SSG.com will end pre-order sales on the 1st of next month, and start selling gift sets in earnest at stores across the country from February 2nd.
Hoonhak Choi, in charge of E-Mart marketing, said, “Amid the strong sales of premium sets and the ease of the gift limit for agricultural and livestock products, the sales of pre-booked gift sets have increased significantly. We will present a quality gift set that customers can satisfy.”
