Students at Gyeonggi University, who had a conflict with the school due to the refund of the dormitory fee, received a full refund of the dormitory fee.
Gyeonggi-do announced on the 24th that 1477 students admitted to Gyeonggi University’s dormitory will receive 2.114 billion won (average 1.43 million won per person, maximum 3 million won) for the first semester of 2020.

Last year, due to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), all classes were converted to non-face-to-face lectures, and many Gyeonggi University students were unable to enter the dormitory even after paying the dormitory fee. However, schools and dormitory operators delayed responsibility for reasons such as’deficit’ and did not refund the dormitory fee.

Gyeonggi Province, which used the Gyeonggi University dormitory as a Corona 19 life treatment center, learned this from the Student Council in the process of collecting student grievances in January.
Since then, the Gyeonggi Provincial Bureau has taken measures, such as collecting related data and applying for damage relief to the Korea Consumer Agency.
In addition, I recently received a confirmation letter from Gyeonggi University and a dormitory operating company stating that’the entire dormitory fee will be refunded until the 25th of this month.

Gyeonggi Province, if Gyeonggi University, etc. does not comply with the agreement promised in the official letter, is deemed to be’refusal of continuing transaction contracts’ under the Door-to-Door Sales Act, imposing a fine of up to 10 million won, and accusing it of negligence for the execution of other uses of the dormitory management and operating expenses. It is a policy.
Also, taking this opportunity as an opportunity, we plan to promote an agreement with the Korea Consumer Agency for rapid damage relief.

Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myeong informed his social network service (SNS) and said, “Gyeonggi University students provided their dormitory, their living space, as a’life treatment center’, so that 1954 mild patients could be safely treated.” It is regrettable that it was delayed, but I also thank the Kyonggi University and the management company for concluding an agreement sincerely, and I hope this will be a little comfort to the students.”
