“Don’t let SNU too”… Freeman Chae Hyeon-guk falls asleep forever

“School should not only be a place where good students can be raised, but a place where good teachers can also be raised.”

“Life is a process of constantly asking, learning, and enlightening. Knowing for sure is a stereotype. There is no right answer in the world. There are countless answers to one problem.”

“If I don’t study, I rot. If I study, I rot less, but less rot. Children who receive awards receive awards because of the children who do not receive awards.”

Who said it. This is what the late Hyoam Academy Honorary Chairman Chae Hyeon-guk (1935-2021), who fell asleep forever on the 2nd, said. Until a few years ago, the deceased left a lot of talks through lectures and media interviews, which garnered a lot of attention.

The deceased graduated from the Department of Philosophy at Seoul National University. The deceased, who helped with the Heungkuk coal mine founded by his father (Chae Gi-yeop) in 1956, walked on the path of a businessman, and at one time was ranked second in the national income tax.

After distributing all of his property and organizing his business in 1973, he later provided shelter and funded activities for democratic movement members who were persecuted during the dictatorships of Park Jeong-hee and Chun Doo-hwan.

Chae Ki-yeop acquired Hyoam Academy in 1968, and Hyoam High School opened in Yangsan in 1974. ‘Hyoam’ is the issue of Kiyeop Chae. Chae Hyeon-guk has been inaugurated as the chairman of Hyoam Academy since 1988. Hyoam Academy has Hyoam High School and Gaeun Middle School.

There are many anecdotes related to Chae Hyeon-guk. The relationship with the late President Roh Moo-hyun is also striking.

During the 2002 presidential election, former President Roh also taught at Hyoam High School. It was December 6, 2002. At that time, President Roh, who was in Busan, tried to teach at a local school in Busan, but it was not done.

Teacher Kim Soon-nam (Hyoam High School), who remembers the time, said, “At the time, it seems that the Busan-side schools were not going to be elected president, and they felt burdened. (Our school) received a request and accepted it.”

At present, on the second floor of Hyoam High School, there is a sign saying’Classroom where President Roh Moo-hyun taught’. At the time, the principal of Hyoam High School was Nae-gil Nae.

Former principal Ryu Gyeong-ryul is from the entire KTU. Former Principal Ryu was dismissed from work as a result of the KTU activity, and then reinstated him. In 2002, he taught mathematics at this school and became the principal the following year.

Former principal Ryu Gyeong-ryul said, “The president was a person who was ahead in ideological matters,” and said, “In addition, it would have been the only nationwide education system that accepted the dismissal teacher from the KTU and even hired it as the principal.”

He said, “I met several times before coming to Hyoam school. Among the words he said at that time, he said,’Teachers have the right to teach children, but students also have the right not to study. You should not try to unilaterally teach according to your own desires.’ Raised.

In addition, he said, “The president also said,’Don’t try to send it to Seoul National University too much.'” He said “to receive.”

“A proud free man who was determined to false consciousness of intellectuals”

Principal Kang Ho-gap said, “The director always emphasized spontaneity. He said that studying or anything else you have to do yourself is fun.”

He said, “You haven’t been able to come to school since the outbreak of Corona 19 last year. If you came to school before that, you didn’t interfere with the school management, and he said that you should take good care of the trees. It is because of the deceased that the trees in the school are dense now. I can do it.”

“There are countless words that qualify Chae Hyeon-guk,” said Yeo Tae-jeon, principal of Namhae Sang-ju-jung. He said he would look at Chae Hyeon-guk from the standpoint he meets.

The female principal said, “I met Mr. Chae Hyeon-guk, who was a proud free man beyond idols and vanity. He liked books, people, and nature more than money, power, and honor.” He said, “I was a humble free man who asked fiercely and thought passionately without missing a moment of learning and introspection.”

Chae Hyeon-guk left various’words’ through media interviews and lectures. In particular, the phrase “a person who has stopped growing up and an adult is a person who continues to grow up” shows his side as a’decent free man’.
