The first vaccination of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) will begin on the 26th of this month. The AstraZeneca vaccine, which will be approved for use by the government soon, is expected to be a priority target such as nursing hospitals.
On the 9th, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said, “From the 25th, the vaccine will be delivered to vaccination institutions such as public health centers, and vaccination will start sequentially from the 26th.” Of the 10 million people who have signed an individual purchase contract with AstraZeneca, the first vaccination will be made with 750,000 people who arrive first.

In a briefing the day before, the Director of the Disease Administration said, “1.5 million doses (for 750,000 people) out of the contracted volume with AstraZeneca are in progress for distribution and delivery as the supply schedule has been confirmed for the last week of February.” After shipment from SK Bioscience factory in Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, which produces AstraZeneca vaccine on consignment, it will be shipped on the 24th and delivered to about 2,000 nursing hospitals and public health centers nationwide to begin inoculation. To this end, the initial volume inoculation and institution will be confirmed by the 19th.
According to the’Corona 19 Vaccination Implementation Plan’ announced by the government on the 28th of last month, about 77,000 people including nursing hospitals and nursing facility residents will be vaccinated in the first quarter. Medical institutions such as nursing homes are planning to inoculate themselves, and health center visiting teams will inject vaccinations at nursing homes for the elderly.

The government plans to administer AstraZeneca to elderly people over 65 years of age, such as nursing hospitals, but it is unclear whether it will go as planned. The controversy over the use of the elderly has not been cleared. The final inspection committee of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the Vaccination Specialized Committee of the Agency for Disease Control and Prevention, which will be held on the 10th, will determine whether vaccinations for the elderly aged 65 or over will be decided later. If there is an age limit in the final decision process, it is possible that the vaccination schedule will change.
Regarding this, Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun said in a question to the National Assembly on the 8th, “Can there be disruptions in vaccination for the elderly?” It’s not a big problem.”
