Exports of eco-friendly cars were totaled at 32,35 units, up 76.5% from the previous year. In particular, exports reached a record high of $900 million, accounting for about 25% of all automobile exports, and the export structure is accelerating.

Electric vehicle exports increased for 42 consecutive months. By model, exports of the Kia Niro EV (6,183 units, 379.7%↑) increased significantly.

On the other hand, it was tentatively calculated last month that the overall automobile industry produced a triple increase of 24.9%, domestic demand 18.4%, and export 29.5%.

Production increased by 24.9% to 314,000,190 units due to the normalization of operations by the conclusion of a collective agreement and the expansion of supply due to strong demand for automobiles, such as increased domestic and exports. This is the largest increase since October 2018.

Domestic sales increased 18.4% to 137,000,692 units due to the effect of new cars such as Granger, Tucson, and Carnival, an extension of the individual consumption tax cut by 30%, and an increase in the number of business days.

All of the top 5 best-selling cars were won by domestic cars. Hyundai Motor Company’s Grandeur achieved first place last month, following the first place in the annual sales rankings last year. Carnival (8,43 units), Sorento (7,480 units), Tucson (6,730 units), and Avante (6,552 units) appeared in that order.

For Imports, European and Japanese brands were sluggish, while German brands such as Mercedes and BMW showed good sales.
