MLB Network John Hayman said on January 16 (Korean time) that “the LA Dodgers signed a contract with Cory Seeger to avoid a salary adjustment.”
According to Hayman, the Dodgers signed a $13.75 million a year contract with Seeger. Seger, who had an annual salary of $7.6 million last year, rose sharply in the final season ahead of his free agency qualification.
Siger, born in 1994, was nominated for the Dodgers in the first round of the 2012 rookie draft, and made his debut in the big leagues in 2015.
Siger, who played 27 games in 2015, had a rookie season in 2016 and won the National League Rookie of the Year with .308/.365/.512 and 26 homers and 72 RBIs in 157 games. In the 2017 season, he made a big success with .295/.375/.479 and 22 homers and 77 RBIs at 145.
However, in the 2018 season, he stopped playing 26 games due to an injury, and in the 2019 season, he recorded 134 games .272/.335/.483 and 19 home runs and 87 RBIs, regaining his pre-injury skills to some extent. In the 2020 season, he performed his best performance in 52 games with .307/.358/.585 and 15 homers and 41 RBIs. And he made a big success in the postseason, winning the League Championship Series and World Series MVP one after another, leading the team to victory.
