As the winner of the Sri Lankan beauty contest was engulfed in the’divorce controversy’, the crown was lost at the awards ceremony.
This winner even suffered a head injury in the process of being forcibly removed by the previous year’s winner.
According to Sri Lankan media such as News First on the 7th and BBC broadcast, a woman named Pushpica de Silva won the Married Women Beauty Contest on the 4th and won the title of’Miss Sri Lanka’.
However, at the end of the official event, the winner of the previous year, Carolyn Zuri, suddenly lifted the microphone and approached De Silva, insisting that “by law, married women can receive the award, and divorced women are not eligible for the award.” Peeled off.
It is known that De Silva suffered a head injury in the process of removing the hair and the tangled crown.
Juri arbitrarily put this crown on the head of the second place winner, and De Silva left the stage in tears.
This process was broadcast on TV all over the country. This contest is considered one of the biggest beauty contests in Sri Lanka.
The organizers immediately settled on the situation. De Sylva returned the crown to De Silva and apologized, stating that he was not divorced.
De Silva also held a press conference the day before, and said that he was not divorced and said, “I will dedicate this award to a single mother who is struggling with raising children alone.”
He then emphasized that “even if a woman is divorced, they should be able to receive this award.”
Along with this, De Silva took legal action, such as suing Zuri.
Therefore, the day before, the police summoned Juri and other officials to investigate the case. /yunhap news
