Heungkuk Life’s coach Park Mi-hee couldn’t hide his embarrassment, saying, “It was an unpredictable situation” about the controversy over the school violence of his players.

In an interview conducted prior to the 2020~21 V-League Road Corporation’s away game held at Gimcheon Gymnasium in Gyeongbuk on the 11th, Park said, “Jae-young Lee and Lee Da-young did not accompany the Gimcheon Gymnasium today.”

Director Park said, “(The aggression suspicion) is something I never expected for my personal or team,” he said. “I am embarrassed to face an unpredictable situation.” Regarding the timing of the two sisters joining the game, “We are considering it together with the club. But it won’t be easy.”

Sister Lee Jae-young and Da-young are surrounded by abusive controversy that, when they were in middle and high school, they were threatening with a weapon while cursing their parents. Lee Da-young even made a handwritten apology through SNS, but the controversy has not easily subsided.

In the situation where Sisters Jaeyoung Lee and Dayoung left the team, the management of the remaining players was the most important. Director Park confessed, “That part is the most difficult.” He said, “Even in normal times, we do training about sports mentality once or twice a week.” “Recently, I cannot talk to players about volleyball. Yesterday (10th) also gave a related lecture at the expedition accommodation. “The players are focused on getting psychological stability.”

Coach Park is planning to focus on the game. Manager Park said, “I thought about what the priority was in the current situation,” and said, “In the end, I came to the conclusion that the players are playing well and reducing the psychological burden.” He said, “Once I focus on the game, I will take care of the manager’s work and the club’s work one by one.”

Regarding the suspicion of’watching the training of a specific player’s parents’, he refuted that it has never been. Recently, rumors have circulated both inside and outside the volleyball world that’the parents of certain players watched the players’ training, and some players opposed it’. Director Park said, “The training time is strictly the manager’s authority. In any sport, there is no way to watch training outside,” he said. “When I was teaching, it never happened, and it couldn’t be.” He said, “(Recently in a tumultuous atmosphere), there is a lot of unfounded stories. (This story) does not help the players’ performance at all,” he said.

Lastly, coach Park said, “After all, I think that it is most important for players to show good performance in the stadium.” I hope for the understanding of many people.”
