KB Insurance Manager Lee Sang-yeol, who was controversial over the assault of Park Cheol-woo (KEPCO) 12 years ago, voluntarily resigns.
Director Lee Sang-yeol said through the club on the 12th, “Once again, I sincerely apologize to Park Chul-woo and volleyball fans for his inappropriate behavior 12 years ago, and resign to have a time of self-sufficiency.”
The KB Volleyball Team accepted Lee Sang-yeol’s appreciation and decided to operate the team in a coach-centered system until the end of the 2020-21 season, but leave coach Lee Kyung-soo as the manager’s acting role temporarily.
Manager Sang-yeol Lee said, “I am very grateful and sorry to the players and staff who have followed me this season. I hope you will do your best until the end of the season.”
Furthermore, he added, “I was happy to be able to coach for a while on my new team, and I will always support KB Volleyball Team with love as I am now. I am once again sorry for all the fans who love volleyball.”
KB Volleyball Team said, “Even though coach Lee Sang-yeol always took the lead in a short period of time, he always thought about, considerate, and communicated in a comfortable atmosphere according to the player’s eye level. Based on this, a system that allows players to maintain their professional attitude and best condition. We are grateful that we have built a foundation for volleyball that is positive and fun for players through autonomy and empowerment.”
Director Sang-yeol Lee became controversial again when the issue of school violence broke out in the volleyball world. Manager Lee Sang-yeol said, “As a party that was at the center of the violent controversy in the past, we are trying to do better to the players,” but the victim, Park Cheol-woo, poured out criticism and fell into a controversial whirlpool.
As the wave increased, coach Sang-yeol Lee apologized again and declared that he gave up on the remaining games, but eventually withdrew from the coach.
