SSG Landers coach Kim Won-hyung (49) revealed the impression he had at his first meeting with former manager Jeong Yong-jin (53) Shinsegae Group Vice Chairman.

Director Kim received a question about Vice Chairman Jeong after the opening match with the Lotte Giants, which was scheduled to be held at Incheon SSG Landers Field on the 3rd, was canceled due to rain.

Director Kim said, “During the inauguration ceremony, we chatted with the owner for a while while having a meal. I felt that he was a person who really liked baseball.”

Director Kim met with Vice Chairman Jeong for the first time at the SSG inauguration ceremony held at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul on the 30th of last month.

Coach Kim was elected as SK’s 8th coach in November last year, but after only two months, the club’s owner changed to Shinsegae Group and entered the 2021 season as SSG’s first command tower.

After taking over the baseball team, Vice-Chairman Chung actively communicated with baseball fans through voice chat SNS during the establishment process, earning the nickname’Yongjin Lee’.

In particular, the provocative remarks aimed at the distribution rival Lotte, attracted the attention of baseball fans to SSG before the start of the regular season.

Unfortunately, the matchup between SSG and Lotte was held in the opening game, and the interest of baseball fans turned to Incheon from the first day of the opening. Vice-Chairman Chung did not appear on the stadium because the game could not be held due to rain, but he is expected to visit SSG Landers Field on the 4th.

Director Kim explained, “The owner did not talk to me about Lotte at all,” and “He said a lot that he really liked baseball from a young age.”
