The quarantine authorities said on the 20th that the 20 cases in which brain blood clots were found after receiving AstraZeneca’s novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine fall under the’Cautions’ for vaccination announced by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). .

Park Young-joon, head of the adverse reaction investigation support team of the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, said at a regular online briefing on the day, “The result of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was confirmed as a cerebral vein thrombosis.” I said.

CVST is one of the cases in which the European Medicines Agency said it would conduct further analysis without excluding any association with AstraZeneca vaccination. However, the European Medicines Agency has tentatively concluded that the AstraZeneca vaccine was not associated with an increased overall risk of blood clots.

Team leader Park explained, “We are currently testing the causative factor,” and “We will evaluate the relevance (with vaccination) through the deliberation of the trial rapid response team and the damage investigation team.”

Authorities said the EMA does not rule out the causality between the AstraZeneca vaccine and the very rare occurrence of thrombosis, but there are currently no plans to change the vaccination schedule.

“The government is planning to proceed with vaccinations smoothly in accordance with the previously announced vaccination plan for the second quarter,” said Byeong-taek Bae, head of the situation general manager of the promotion group. “We are not currently reviewing changes to the existing vaccination plan.”
