Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki and Minister of Strategy and Finance recently completed the sale of his own apartment in Uiwang, Gyeonggi-do, and became the first house.
According to the registered copy of the apartment in Naeson-dong, Uiwang-si, owned by Deputy Prime Minister Hong on the 4th, ownership of this apartment was completed last month. The trading price was reported as 920 million won.
Deputy Prime Minister Hong acquired an apartment in Uiwang in 2013. The 97.12㎡ (supply area: 130.59㎡) where Deputy Prime Minister Hong lived was 15,330,000 won per 3.3㎡ (pyeong) of about 600 million won. At the end of 2017, it became a multi-household by receiving the right to sell in Sejong City through a special supply of public officials.
When real estate prices rose sharply last year, the government recommended high-ranking officials to dispose of all houses except for one house. Deputy Prime Minister Hong also promoted the sale of Uiwang apartments to become the first house. This is because Sejong City was designated as an overheated district, and the resale of sales rights was restricted.
Deputy Prime Minister Hong signed a contract for the sale of Uiwang apartments in August last year, but the tenant who was living in the house was in danger of a sale mishap when he announced that he would not leave the house by exercising his right to apply for contract renewal. The revised Housing Lease Protection Act, which went into effect in July last year, allowed tenants to exercise their right to apply for contract renewal six months before the end of the contract period.
As the tenant exercised his right to apply for contract renewal, the landlord who purchased Hong’s apartment was unable to move in, and was in a situation where he could not receive loans for purchase funds. This is because the government newly designated Uiwang as a speculative overheating district in last year’s 6.17 real estate countermeasures, purchasing apartments located in the region, and relocating to the location within six months after receiving a mortgage loan.
Afterwards, the tenant changed positions again to vacate the house, and Deputy Prime Minister Hong was able to sell the Uiwang apartment as scheduled. Deputy Prime Minister Hong is known to have paid eviction support money to tenants in the name of consolation money in the process.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Hong said at the opening ceremony of the Ministry of Science and Technology on the same day, “From the beginning of the year, we must put all our policy capabilities to ensure that the real estate market is stabilized.”
