On the 14th, the Citizens’ Federation for Economic Justice Practices (Gyeongsilyeon) checked with Democratic Party lawmakers, etc., who own three or more houses, and found that there were a considerable number of houses that had not been sold.

Rep. Lim Jong-seong, who owns four houses in the Gangnam area and two in the metropolitan area, plans to complete the sale of one out of the four by this month. One commercial house was converted into a shopping district. Rep. Lim said, “The remaining two are on sale, but the buyer of the two is planning to sell the one that appears first,” he said.

3 Rep. Lee Sang-min, a homeowner, could not dispose of a single house. Congressman Lee explained, “It is difficult to dispose of the house where my mother lives and the house where I live,” and said, “The other place is registered as a rental business, so the transaction is restricted. Violation of this is subject to a penalty.”

Rep. Lee Gae-ho, known as a five-owner, completed the sale, leaving only one real residence. He said, “I gave up all three of the five, which were inherited shares, and sold the other one,” he said. “I left only one in Gwangju for real residence.”

Rep. Kim Joo-young, who was the third house owner, also completed the disposal, leaving only one place.

Earlier, Gyeongsilryeon announced in July last year that 42 out of 180 members of the Democratic Party (including Citizens’ Party) reported as multi-households at the time of candidate registration. In a press release last November, the Democratic Party’s ethics inspection team revealed that 38 of its members had multi-households, of which 22 were resolved by October 31. However, the list of the remaining 16 were not disclosed.

It is reported that the ethics inspection team, which is investigating the current status of real estate possession in the third new town, including members of the lawmakers, spouses, family members, and assistants, is also reconfirming whether multi-homes have been resolved. At the end of this month, the ethics inspection team is planning to disclose the status after confirming the details of the report on property changes published in the official gazette by the government officials ethics committee.
