An additional suspicion was raised that announcer Kim Mo, who raised suspicion that reporters had removed and delivered some of the manuscripts produced by KBS1 Radio while conducting news on KBS1 Radio, arbitrarily deleted news that criticized North Korea or was against the government in the past.
KBS Labor Union announced that announcer Kim, who conducted the news at 14:00 on the weekend of KBS1 Radio on the 1st, has arbitrarily deleted or added more than 20 articles for two months from October to December last year.
The articles that Announcer Kim did not broadcast were related to the holding of a feverish ceremony in North Korea, the progress of the prosecution’s investigation of former Blue House chief political officer Kang Ki-jeong, and the rapid increase in new confirmed cases of a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).
Announcer Kim is the most important news, so he deleted the’Top Article’ placed in the first place. It was an article that the Joint Chiefs of Staff caught the situation in North Korea’s execution of a feverish ceremony.
In addition, there were cases where the article was not deleted at all, but some of the articles were not read. The KBS labor union analyzed that “the news of the prosecution’s investigation of key members of the Blue House, the trend of armed protests in North Korea, and the news of the international community’s concern about this were deleted and dismissed.”
Announcer Kim delivered the news of the assault case of a taxi driver by Deputy Minister of Justice Lee Yong-gu on December 19 last year, and received suspicion that he did not broadcast the part of the suspicion of a “watching investigation” raised by opposition lawmakers. In response, KBS explained, “If announcer Kim reads it as the manuscript, it was determined that it would not be possible to broadcast the news related to Corona 19 after the broadcast time, so some of the news was corrected or omitted.”
The KBS Labor Union is a union with about 1,200 members, and is a different organization from the KBS headquarters, a media union that has the largest number of members in KBS.
