European countries are continuing to announce policies to suspend the use of AstraZeneca’s new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine. This is an action following a series of reported side effects after a vaccinated nurse in Austria died of blood clots.

According to the AFP news agency on the 11th (local time), health authorities in Denmark, Norway and Italy announced that they would temporarily suspend AZ vaccination as a preventive measure.

Austria was the first to see blood clotting symptoms. Austrian health officials said a nurse died of a severe blood clotting disorder after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine in a clinic in the northern Zvetl region.

A vaccine with a batch of’ABV5300′ is known to have been a problem. As a result, Austrian health authorities have stopped using vaccines from the manufacturing unit. Lithuania, Esotonia, Luxembourg and Latvia have taken the same steps.

Serious abnormalities have also been reported in other regions of Europe. In Italy, a man in his 50s died of deep vein thrombosis. Italian health authorities have decided to stop vaccinating AstraZeneca from the production unit’ABV2856′, which is believed to have been a problem.

In Denmark, a woman in her 60s who was vaccinated died of thrombosis. Danish health authorities are investigating the possibility of serious side effects such as blood clots from vaccination. During the investigation period (14 days), AstraZeneca vaccination was stopped as a preventive measure.

Norway temporarily suspended the vaccination until the results of the Danish investigation came out. In Norway, cases of blood clots after vaccination were reported, but they recovered immediately. Iceland, with no cases of blood clots, has suspended vaccinations awaiting EMA’s recommendations.

The Safety Management Committee (PRAC) under the European Medicines Agency (EMA) is currently reviewing the relevant case. However, EMA said in a statement, “The benefits of the vaccine are still greater than the risk of the virus.”
