Daewoong Pharmaceutical, joint research with AI company Oncocross to expand indications for new drugs

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Jandi Kim = Daewoong Pharmaceutical[069620]Announced on the 23rd that it has signed a joint R&D agreement with Oncocross, an artificial intelligence (AI) drug development company.

Oncocross has a platform technology that uses AI to find new drug candidates and new therapeutic ranges for existing drugs.

According to the agreement, Daewoong Pharmaceutical plans to expand the indications for drugs by applying Oncocross’s AI platform technology to the new drug’Inabogliflozin’ under development.

The goal is to expand indications so that Inabogliflozin, which is being developed as a treatment for diabetes, can be used for metabolic diseases such as obesity, heart disease, and kidney disease. It is also planning to explore the possibility of developing an anticancer drug for’DWN12088′, a new drug candidate being developed as a treatment for fibrosis.

Daewoong Pharmaceutical believes that the use of Oncocross’s AI platform technology will allow them to quickly discover the optimal combination of treatments, which will significantly shorten the process of developing new drugs.

Daewoong Pharmaceutical also decided to make a strategic investment in Oncocross after signing this agreement.
