Daewoo E&C (047040)In Iraq, it succeeded in winning an order for the construction of a new port worth KRW 2.99 trillion.

Reuters reported on the 23rd (local time) that the Iraqi government had agreed to sign a contract with Daewoo E&C for the first phase of the Alpo new port construction. According to a senior official from the Port Authority of Iraq, Daewoo E&C will be in charge of the first phase of the construction of the Alpo new port in Basra province in southern Iraq, and the contract is worth $2.65 billion (about KRW 2.99 trillion). Daewoo E&C said, “It is correct that the contract is imminent, but it is a matter of disclosure, so we cannot express our position yet.”

In October of last year, Daewoo E&C won orders for breakwater construction during the first phase of the Alpo New Port, as well as the construction of an immersion tunnel production site that connects the Ummkasur and Alpo regions, and the construction of the access road. At the time, Daewoo E&C said, “In the case of the Alpo new port project, follow-up construction such as naval bases, refineries, and housing complexes will be placed in succession.” We plan to make it a strategic base market.”

Meanwhile, Daewoo E&C is making remarkable achievements in overseas orders despite the bad news of this year’s novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19). In addition to the 2 trillion won (LNG Train 7) project in Nigeria, Vietnam, Singapore, and Hong Kong have also received orders over 3 trillion won. When the contract for the Alpo New Port project in Iraq is completed, Daewoo E&C is expected to exceed its overseas order target this year.
