Daegu FC vs. Jeong Seung-won, are they going to catastrophe?

The relationship between Daegu FC and Jeong Seung-won (24) is heading for catastrophe.

Jeong Seung-won went through the K-League adjustment procedure on the 4th, as he could not find an agreement with the club due to annual salary problems this season. At the time, after the coordination committee raised the club’s hand, the goal between the club and Jeong Seung-won seems to be getting deeper.

On the morning of the 8th, Jeong Seung-won even revealed the confirmation of attendance at the time, claiming that he was forced to play in the game in a situation that was not in my condition due to a partial cruciate ligament rupture in the 2019 season.

The club side denied Jeong Seung-won’s claim. He refuted that no other club is compelling to play in a situation that is not in my condition due to an injury to a player, the asset of the club.

An official from the Daegu FC team said, “(Jung Seung-won’s side) is said to have been urged to participate in the game even when he was injured in April 2019. April is the beginning of the season. There is no club that forces the injured to go to the game and makes a choice that may lead to a bad season. “Generally, after the player has finished training, the game is decided. After several days of training, the coaching staff will go through an internal meeting to decide whether to enter the game. Jeong Seung-won’s business trip was a judgment that was normally made through the meeting (Jung Seung-won, too), so he went to the game. “It’s ridiculous to force the lying down player out.”

The club raised doubts about the sudden friction after the change of Jung Seung-won’s agent.

According to Daegu FC, Jeong Seung-won hired another agent instead of the one who had been with him for five years after his professional debut in the beginning of last month. The changed agent met with the club on the 10th of last month and requested a transfer. Daegu was lukewarm about sending Jeong Seung-won, a key strategy, but said it would allow the transfer if it could collect a reasonable transfer fee. It is known that the amount presented by the agent at the meeting with the club was around 500 million won.

An official from the Daegu FC team said, “We haven’t even made a player transfer once or twice, but (in the case of Jeong Seung-won) it is very different from the general case. Usually, the club or agent who wants to recruit a player presents the transfer fee, and after that, our side presents the amount, and negotiations proceed. That was the case of Kim Dae-won, who moved to Gangwon last winter. When Ulsan first inquired, the amount requested by our side was 1 billion won. After that, an amount of 800 million won was set in the negotiation process. After that, while Ulsan couldn’t make a decision, Gangwon tried to sign the company and agreed to the transfer fee (800 million won), and the transfer was established.” “But in the case of Jeong Seung-won, there was no such move. (Agent) At last, 14 clubs have announced their intention to recruit, but if it is true, they should talk to the (club) in a way that’how much team A offered, and how much did team B’, but there was no hemisphere and there was no transfer fee. I only talked about 500 million won. When considering the value of the player, this was an unacceptable amount, so I refused and haven’t talked about the transfer since.”

The Daegu club expressed regret about Jeong Seung-won, who was not accepting the decision of the Salary Adjustment Committee.

Daegu FC official said, “After the coordination committee ended on the 4th, I tried to sign an annual salary agreement with Jeong Seung-won to participate in the Incheon match, but the agent saw the decision on Monday and agreed to sign it (in the annual salary agreement),” he said. So far, no contact has been made. I think that if you are a player, you should do your best with the contract you have made.

At the time of the contract, the club threatened to forcefully sign the contract. If you really want to transfer, you can go to free agency a year later. Or maybe a team shows up offering a reasonable transfer fee. Even if you don’t agree to extend the contract, there is nothing the club can do. It is a way that the season cannot be ruined because players who can play are not deliberately sent out to the game. I hope you will faithfully fulfill the contracts that have been made.”
