Cyberpunk 2077, which is constantly controversial. Even if the controversy of the game itself is left behind, there is one thing that has been achieved. That is, it shook the game in the hardware market. Of course, this is not an achievement achieved by cyberpunk alone. This is because the hardware game has been changing rapidly since before the game was released. However, even if the popularity of simply’performance’ hardware was good, it wasn’t such a frenzy. It means that it was achieved through a combination of factors, which means that there was no stake in Cyberpunk.

Applying many of the latest technologies to various light sources and graphic effects
The game is unavoidable, but it makes a little sense if you look at the specifications proposed by Cyberpunk in the days before its release, when it was incredibly noticeable. It’s because the GeForce RTX 2080 Super or RTX 3070 was added to the ultra specification centering on the best graphics and 4K high resolution, and the RTX 3080 came to the fore in the RT Ultra specification with light effects added. Of course, in order to enjoy this game properly, you would need a RTX 3070 or higher graphics card.
The game even worked closely with Nvidia. So, before the launch, the changes to the RTX effect were widely known, and gamers were more excited. The shadows, reflections, and flashy graphic effects that are naturally drawn according to the sun and lighting were enough to buy the latest high-performance graphics card. The screen in front of my eyes was more than imagination, as it was considered part of marketing.
For reference, the core of Nvidia’s next-generation graphics technology is’light’ and’artificial intelligence’. Until now, light has been a simple visual element in game graphics, but in order to implement realistic graphics, it is necessary to pay more attention to the interaction of light. This is why ray tracing (ray tracing), which was applied to movies and animations, began to attract attention. However, it is also true that the performance of the hardware cannot be supported for real-time processing.
The GeForce RTX graphics card has succeeded in implementing this. In addition to the core in charge of actual graphics processing, a core capable of ray tracing and artificial intelligence operation was placed separately. However, since the performance is slightly degraded, the ray tracing is first processed at a low resolution to ensure optimal performance, and then the image quality deterioration caused by the process of matching it to the resolution (upscaling) is improved with artificial intelligence. RTX 30 series graphics cards have improved processing performance, enabling more natural ray tracing and graphic effects processing.
In fact, if you activate the RTX effect in Cyberpunk 2077, you can experience great graphic effects, though not real. Starting with the basic light source effect, most of the light reflection (ray tracing), shadows, fire and smoke effects, and surface effects were applied.
Of course, with all these effects applied, the performance degradation is apparent. The GeForce RTX 20 series graphics card, which was first applied with RTX technology, shows a relatively better appearance at full HD level, and if you want to enjoy it at QHD or 4K resolution, you need to bring a GeForce RTX 3070 class graphics card or higher. In particular, even at 4K resolution, RTX 3080 or higher graphics cards show a level of slightly exceeding 60 frames per second, so other graphics cards have to adjust or give up graphics options.

Even though the game was cursing, it affected the hardware market.
There are many complaints about the game’s completeness itself, but one of the problems of Cyberpunk 2077 is that it cannot maintain a proper frame even with such a high-performance graphics card. Of course, if you are a gamer with a RTX 3080 or higher graphics card, you won’t be stressed by the performance itself. Only gamers with graphics cards of around the RTX 2080 class are deceived.

Of course, it is difficult to say that one game had a profound effect on purchasing high-performance graphics cards such as GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3080. In fact, the reason why the sales of these latest graphics cards are going high in Korea is because they have excellent performance in addition to games. The big reason is that consumers who aim to improve the overall gaming environment by showing overwhelming performance compared to the previous generation are jumping into the purchasing front.
The reason why graphics cards are often bought is because of’games’. You might buy it to get the performance you need for video editing or to accelerate your graphics processor (GPU), but most of the time you’re approaching it for the purpose of enjoying games. Here are two options. Whether you raise the frame or go all-in on graphic effects. The purpose of purchasing the latest high-performance graphics card is to achieve both. Cyberpunk 2077 is a good vehicle to prove both.
