The number of vaccinations has surpassed the cumulative number of confirmed cases as the global new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine distribution is accelerating. In Asia, Singapore had the highest number of people at 3,090 per 100,000. China was followed by 1,670 per 100,000. Russia had 690 people per 100,000, India had 320, and Myanmar had 10.
Richard Hachet of the Infectious Diseases Innovation Association (CEPI) said at an event hosted by the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina the day before, “a vehicle that saves lives should not be used freely in a situation where infectious diseases spread.” CEPI, together with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Vaccine Immunization Association (Gavi), is leading COVAX, an international project for joint purchasing and equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“Even if one country vaccinates the entire population, economic losses will not be prevented,” said Hachet. “If each country fails to control the epidemic, it will damage international trade and the global economy.” He also emphasized that “the number of Corona 19 vaccines vaccinated today exceeded the cumulative number of corona 19 confirmed cases,” and “We will distribute 565 million doses of Corona 19 vaccine to the world by the middle of this year.”
COVAX announced that it plans to deliver about 375 million doses of Corona 19 vaccines from AstraZeneca, Oxford, Pfizer and Bioentech to 145 countries by the first half of the first provisional vaccine distribution plan announced the day before. Through this, the Korean government will receive 2.7 million servings by the first half.
