Coupang-Itsu, with a single-line delivery in which one rider performs only one delivery, is shaking the domestic delivery application market. In particular, in major regions such as Gangnam 3 districts in Seoul (Seocho-gu, Gangnam-gu, Songpa-gu), it is known that the two companies are fiercely fighting for the top spot as Coupang Itz surpasses or catches up with the people of delivery. As the robust delivery app market shakes, competition in securing riders and promotions is expected to intensify.

According to the delivery industry on the 28th, it is known that the market share of Coupang Itz exceeded 45% in the 3rd district of Gangnam. Currently, the market share of delivery orders in Gangnam District 3 is estimated at 45% for Baemin, 45% for Coupang Itz, and 10% for Yogiyo. Coupangitz actually caught up with Baemin, the number one delivery app. Gangnam District 3, which accounts for more than 20% of the total number of delivery orders in Seoul, has a high income level and population density, so the number of deliveries is high and the customer unit price is high, so competition is fierce. Because of this symbolism, both Coupang Itz and Baemin started their initial service in Gangnam 3 district.

In the share of the entire delivery app industry, Coupang Itz is also in the pursuit of strong. As a result of analyzing 2 billion data on an average of 40 million mobile devices per day last year by mobile market research company IG Works, the average daily number of users of Coupang Itz in December last year was 46,235, compared to last year’s January (29869). It increased more than 15 times. Coupang Itz, whose share of the delivery app industry was only 7.1% until September last year, rose to 18.7% in February. During the same period, Baemin and Yogiyo changed from 80.7% and 37.1% to 81.5% and 33.5%, respectively. While the share of the Baemin industry is maintained, Coupang Itz is taking the share of Yogiyo and others. The growth of Coupang Itz is due to the popularity of single item delivery. Coupang-Itsu’s single delivery is more likely to arrive uncooled because it is delivered faster than a bundle delivery. Baemin is known to deliver three to five cases in batches, which is nearly twice as slow as Coupangitsu.
Baemin and Yogiyo are working to improve services by introducing single delivery and strengthening artificial intelligence (AI) dispatch functions. Since last January, Baemin has been piloting single-gun delivery in Gangnam 3 districts. Yogiyo has been servicing the’Yogiyo Express’, a dispatch system based on the AI ​​technology of Global Delivery Hero (DH), in all areas of Seoul since October last year. The industry expects that competition through securing riders and promotions will become more intense in the future. In particular, the problem of securing riders is expected to emerge as single-gun delivery becomes more popular. Accordingly, it is predicted that problems such as higher delivery costs will arise as each company raises fees to secure riders.

An industry insider said, “Due to the characteristics of the market with low customer loyalty, the market will fluctuate greatly depending on the service, such as promotion, single item delivery, and time reduction through the AI ​​dispatch system.”
