Coupang, the first investment in Korea, made just two weeks after listing on the New York Stock Exchange, is part of Coupang’s continued efforts to revitalize the local economy and create new jobs.

At the signing ceremony, major officials such as Jeollabuk-do Governor Song Ha-jin, Park Seong-il, Wanju-gun, Assemblyman Ahn Ho-young, and Park Dae-jun, CEO of the Coupang New Business Division signed a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of the Coupang Logistics Center, and promised to join forces to vitalize the local economy and create jobs. did.

Coupang plans to invest more than 100 billion won to establish a new distribution center in Wanju-gun according to the MOU signed with Jeollabuk-do and Wanju-gun. The Coupang Wanju Logistics Center, which covers a site of 100,000 square meters, is expected to be the largest distribution center in Jeollabuk-do, and it is expected to create 2,000 new jobs. In accordance with the existing employment practices, Coupang will prioritize hiring local residents and contribute to narrowing the employment gap according to gender and age.

In contrast to the intensive deployment of logistics facilities in the metropolitan area in general, Coupang has been looking for ways to more evenly establish logistics infrastructure across the country. To date, it has established more than 100 independent logistics centers in 30 cities nationwide. It is contributing to growth and job creation. As a result of large-scale investments in logistics infrastructure, 70% of the current population of Korea resides within 10 km of the Coupang delivery center.
