[이뉴스투데이 전북취재본부 김은태 기자] Coupang Co., Ltd., a global super-excellent e-commerce company recently listed on the New York Stock Exchange, is making large-scale investments in Wanju-gun to build an innovative logistics system nationwide.

Jeonbuk-do and Wanju-gun signed a three-way investment agreement with Coupang (CEO Park Dae-jun) in the presence of Do Governor Song Ha-jin and Park Seong-il at the conference room of the Jeonbuk Provincial Office on the 26th.

According to the agreement, Coupang will invest 130 billion won to establish a 100,000m2 distribution center on the site of the 2nd Industrial Complex in Wanju Techno Valley, and construction will begin in 2022 with the goal of completion in 2024.

Coupang cited the advantages of convenient transportation, such as excellent accessibility from anywhere in the country, and a traffic network of all directions.

Jeonbuk-do and Wanju-gun decided to actively cooperate with administrative support and licensing to ensure that Coupang’s investment proceeds smoothly.

In addition, Coupang, Jeonbuk-do, and Wanju-gun decided to make efforts to improve the working environment and create quality jobs.

Founded in July 2010, Coupang is one of Asia’s largest e-commerce companies, and its mission is to innovatively improve the lives of customers.

Provincial Governor Song Ha-jin said, “I hope that Coupang, who stands for the Amazon of Korea, can lead the local economy through cooperation with small business owners in Jeollabuk-do.” I want to become a company,” he said.

Assemblyman Ahn Ho-young (Mr. Wan Jin) said, “It is of great significance that a globally recognized superb company chose Jeonbuk and Wanju for the nationwide base of its innovative system.” I hope that I can grow up.”

Jeonbuk Provincial Council Chairman Song Ji-yong also added, “As Korea’s best e-commerce anchor company enters the finish line, positive effects are expected to attract other companies. I hope that Wanju-gun will emerge as a new base in the domestic logistics industry.”

Park Seong-il, head of Wanju County, said, “I am very pleased that Coupang made the first investment to revitalize the domestic regional economy in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do.” I will not spare.”

On the other hand, through this investment, Coupang is attracting extraordinary attention because it is known to be used as an important logistics center in case of securing a high-tech logistics base that can converge to the central and southern regions and establishing a global network in the future.
