Countermeasures against overworked deaths… The courier workers fell again.

Courier workers suffering from heavy work are falling one after another.

In Incheon, a Coupang delivery driver died, and in Gyeongju, a delivery driver for CJ Logistics, who worked 12 hours a day, lost consciousness and collapsed and is in a critical situation.

Reporter Lee Jae-min covered it.

Yesterday, around 12:30 noon, a 43-year-old Coupang courier driver, Mr. Kim, was found collapsed.

“It’s collapsed, and paramedics came and loaded it on a stretcher. The only thing Coupang employees came and took later.”

The courier driver, Mr. Kim, parked a freight car and passed a box around a residential area, and fell down inside the door of a house.

Paramedics were taken to the hospital for CPR, but they died.

Coupang said, “It was the second day since I was assigned to the delivery business,” said Kim, who died.

However, it did not give a clear answer as to whether it should have been put into delivery before the final examination results were available.

Last night, a 59-year-old courier driver from CJ Logistics in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, lost consciousness due to a brain hemorrhage.

“The number of deliveries per month is between 5,500 and 6,000. And we know that the daily travel distance is more than 100 kilometers.”

However, like most couriers last year, Mr. Lee applied for the exemption from workers’ compensation insurance and was unable to receive insurance payments.

As 16 courier drivers died last year, various measures were taken to prevent overwork, but the overwork is continuing.

Only this year, four courier drivers have already died from overwork, and five have died of brain hemorrhage.

In the field, criticism continues that there is no change in the intensive work environment.

“The time it takes for sorting is 7 hours, like this. Sorting manpower is only put in about 4 hours, or it wasn’t straightforward, so…”

It is the position of the government and courier companies that the situation will improve if courier drivers are obligated to purchase industrial accident insurance from July.

However, if the accident continues due to murderous labor, insurance will be limited to drug visits after death.
