Heungdeok Woori Nursing Hospital in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do at 9 am on the 26th, when vaccination for a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) began nationwide. From that day on, 5266 residents and workers in 213 nursing facilities nationwide and some residents and workers in nursing hospitals began vaccinating AstraZeneca. An official from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said, “As of 6 p.m., the number of inoculations was tentatively counted at 11,813. No serious adverse reactions have been reported.”

Vaccination is only 402 days, one year and 37 days, since January 20, last year when the first confirmed case in Korea was released. The long run for’restoration of daily life’ continues until the Korean people form collective immunity. The government’s goal is to complete the first vaccination for more than 70% of the population by September and form collective immunity in November.

The first inoculation in Korea came out of Seoul 15 minutes earlier than scheduled. Lee Kyung-soon, 61, a nursing care provider at Sanggye Nursing Home in Seoul, received the vaccine at 8:45 am at Nowon-gu Public Health Center. Mr. Lee said, “I was a little nervous in the morning, but it’s okay (now).” Among the subjects of AstraZeneca vaccination, 28,9480 people agreed as of the previous day. 93.7% of all subjects agreed. Nursing facility residents and workers go to the public health center to inoculate. In nursing facilities where there are residents with limited mobility, the health center vaccination team or doctors do’visit vaccination’. President Moon Jae-in and the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) chief visited the Mapo-gu Health Center in Seoul this morning to observe the vaccination site.

58,500 Pfizer vaccines supplied by the international vaccine supply organization’Covax Facility’ also arrived at Incheon Airport this afternoon and delivered to five vaccination centers. Pfizer’s vaccine will begin vaccination for 55,000 people, including medical staff and workers in treatment hospitals. The government has so far secured a total of 79 million vaccines, including 10 million AstraZeneca, 13 million Pfizer, and 20 million modders.
