From this coming April, senior citizens aged 65 or older in Korea will be included in the vaccine target for the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19). The vaccination vaccine is the UK AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine.

According to the government on the 9th, it is estimated that a total of 8.5 million people over 65 years of age who will be vaccinated against Corona 19 in the second quarter. ▲ 2 million people aged 80 or older ▲ 1.6 million people aged 75 to 79 ▲ 2.1 million people aged 70 to 74 ▲ 2.8 million people aged 65 to 69 years, etc.

When full-scale vaccination begins, the priority is expected to be over 75 years of age. This is because even when the influenza (flu) vaccination plan was established last year, it was composed of those who received the vaccine from 75 years of age or older among those who were subject to vaccination.

Older people are more likely to get the AstraZeneca vaccine. This is because AstraZeneca vaccines are all of the 345,000 units that come in in March and the 750,000 units from April to May, starting with the first quarter (785,000 people) introduced in February.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said, “We are establishing an inoculation plan for people aged 65 years and older,” and said, “There is no clear decision so far, and we will determine the detailed implementation plan according to the deliberation of the Vaccination Specialized Committee.” The committee will be held on the 10th and will first deliberate on whether to use the AstraZeneca vaccine for people over the age of 65.
