A new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) mutant virus originating from the UK was first discovered in China. East Asia was all covered, from Japan, Korea, and Taiwan to China.

AFP news agency cited a report from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in China on the 31st of last month (local time) and reported that a 23-year-old woman who returned to Shanghai from the UK two weeks ago was infected with the mutant virus. The woman tested negative for Corona 19 two days before flying in the UK, but tested positive for a retest after arriving in China. Since then, Chinese health authorities have conducted a genetic sequencing test because the woman has traveled to the UK and found a virus different from the existing virus. Subsequently, it was finally confirmed as a mutant virus from the UK in additional tests.

According to the report, the woman stated that she ran in the park without wearing a mask in the UK and took off her mask and ate while waiting for a flight. The report added, “This case is the first case of a British mutant virus infection found in China.”

China stopped direct flights to and from the UK on the 24th of last month as the virus spread from the UK. About 50 countries around the world, including Korea, have banned or restricted entry from the UK. The U.K. mutant virus has been officially confirmed to date in more than 30 countries around the world, including the United States, the country with the largest COVID-19 infection, and Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and South America.
