[아시아경제 김지희 기자] The fear of mutation of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) that started in the UK is spreading to Japan. Although the Japanese government has embarked on immigration regulations, there have been confirmed cases of Corona 19 mutations that have not been filtered out by airport quarantine.

According to NHK, Japan on the 27th, a pilot in Tokyo in his 30s and a woman in his 20s, a family member, were confirmed to have been infected with the corona 19 mutant virus the day before. In particular, they were confirmed by general medical institutions, not airport quarantine stations. This is the first time in Japan that the COVID-19 mutant virus has been confirmed outside of airport quarantine.

The man came to Japan on the 16th of this month after staying in London, England, and the woman has never visited England. However, the male was excluded from airport quarantine because he was an aircraft pilot.

Considering that the mutant virus was introduced through this man, the spread of the corona 19 mutant virus has actually started in Japan.

The day before, Takaji Wakita, director of Japan’s National Infectious Disease Research Institute, said at a press conference, “Not all viruses have been identified, but there is a possibility that mutated virus infections will increase in the future.”

Previously, in Japan, five people from the UK were infected with the COVID-19 mutant virus, which was confirmed at an airport quarantine inspection.
