Brazilian President Zaire Bolsonaru, who is suffering from 4,000 deaths per day related to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), asked Russian President Vladimir Putin on the 6th (local time) to purchase a Sputnik V vaccine and to produce Brazil itself.
According to Reuters, the Brazilian presidential office said that President Bolsonaro made the request in a call with President Putin on the same day.
Brazil is suffering from body ailments, breaking the highest number of deaths every day since Corona 19 has spread to the global pandemic,’pandemic. The number of new deaths the day before that was counted on this day was 4195, exceeding the 4,000 for the first time. There were also 8,6979 new confirmed cases. In particular, there are concerns that the death toll will increase more rapidly due to an overload of the hospital system.
Brazilian health regulator Anvisa has yet to approve Russia’s Sputnik vaccine. The Brazilian government withheld the decision to approve emergency use last month due to incomplete documents and omissions.
However, as the governments of 11 states across Brazil have requested the purchase of 66.6 million batches, they are under pressure to rush approval. “We plan to send a team to inspect Sputnik production facilities in Russia,” said Antony Bara Torres, president of Anbisa.
In addition, the Brazilian Ministry of Health is planning to purchase 10 million Sputnik batches for domestic production by Uniau Kimika, a local company.
President Bolsonaro said in a video posted on the social network that day, “I hope that production will be done in Brazil if approval is given,” and “the problem will be resolved soon.” President Bolsonaro has repeatedly expressed his skepticism about wearing a mask and vaccination, but is facing responsibility for a massive infection.
Meanwhile, the President’s Office of Brazil added that President Bolsonaro emphasized the need to open imports of Brazilian packaged meat to President Putin on the day and discussed trade, defense, and scientific and technological cooperation.
