Government is cautious about raising distance

With the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) confirmed on the second day of the 25th and 26th, the government will soon decide whether to upgrade to the third stage of’social distancing’.
The government held a meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the afternoon of the 27th to determine additional measures, including whether or not to raise the 3rd stage of’social distancing’.
In order to reduce the increase in the number of confirmed cases, the government enforced’New Year’s End and New Year Special Prevention Measures’ with the main contents of banning meetings of five or more restaurants nationwide, suspension of winter sports facilities, and closure of sunrise spots from the 24th to the 3rd of the following month. Losing is unknown.
In addition to nursing hospitals and churches, where there are a lot of confirmed cases, new group infections in everyday places such as workplaces, restaurants, and animal hospitals are also affecting the spread of Corona 19.
The rate of cases of unknown infection route is not falling from the 27% range. On the last 22-25 days (27.1%→27.4%→27.8%→27.2%), it was in the 27% range for four consecutive days.
This ratio remained in the 15-16% range until the 6th of this month, but it has continued to rise after exceeding 20% on the 8th (20.7%).
Regarding the recent outbreak, Yoon Tae-ho, head of the Central Accident Control Headquarters (heavy water version), said, “We need to reverse the situation and break down (the trend of confirmed cases) to a decline, but we accept the part that cannot be broken as a limit. We judged that reduction was the most essential measure, and in this respect, we announced special quarantine measures for the year-end and New Year holidays.”
On the afternoon of the 27th, the government held a meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, presided over by Prime Minister Chung Sye-gyun, to determine additional quarantine measures, including whether or not to raise the distance.
The 2.5th stage of the current metropolitan area and the 2nd stage of the non-metropolitan area will end on the 28th, so it is necessary to decide on the extension or further upgrade of these measures.
The third stage is actually a strong measure equivalent to’blockade’, and the government has been cautious about raising the distance because there is a concern about major social and economic damages. However, with the recent surge in the number of confirmed cases, the pressure to raise the third stage is increasing.
Professor Chun Byeong-cheol of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Korea University emphasized that “the public and businesses are working in almost three stages.” .
“What is important is how the trend of the outbreak of patients, that is, the spread of the epidemic, is going to be,” said Son Young-rae, head of the Strategic Planning Division. It seems that it will be an important criterion for the step up.”
