On the 25th, the city of Mungyeong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, announced on the 25th that it has decided to redeem the incentives for the SBS Monday-Tuesday drama’Chosun Gumasa’, which has been discontinued due to controversy over history distortion.

According to Mungyeong City, the Joseon Gumasa drama production company paid 2.84 million won for use of the Mungyeong Saejae open set in November last year, and received 3.6 million won, 20% of the 18 million won for local production, as an incentive.

Through the ordinance, the city of Mungyeong provides 20% of the production cost (limited to 10 million won) of the production cost, such as lodging, food, fuel, auxiliary contributions, and heavy equipment usage fees, if a net production cost of 300 million won or more is filmed more than 5 times in Mungyeong.

However, recently, when the drama has been criticized by viewers due to the severe distortion of history, such as revealing an explicit Chinese style, the city of Mungyeong also decided to take measures such as returning incentives.

An official from Moon Gyeong-si said, “We are in the process of redeeming the paid incentives,” and said, “There is no plan to support production costs related to the production of this drama in the future.”

The controversy over the Joseon dynasty is spreading to one wave.

Controversy is spreading, with Chinese foods such as mooncakes, pidan, and Chinese dumplings appearing, and some point out that the characters’ armor and swords are all Chinese style.

Eventually, a post was posted on the Blue House National Petition bulletin board saying, “We request to stop the airing of the historical distortion Northeast Fair Drama’Choseongu Masa’,” and more than 130,000 people agreed in a day.

Accordingly, the production company apologized for the distortion of history and the Chinese-style controversy, but the companies that organized the advertisements announced that it would cease to exist, putting them in a position to become a’ad-free drama’.

Starting with Ssangbangwool, Tamna Fish Market, and Hogwanwon, a number of companies such as Myeongin Pharmaceutical, Goldstar Bed, Honda Korea, Black Yak, and Simmons stopped organizing advertisements.
