The police who investigated the case of the ‘controversy over the increase of the fan gong cost’ by the former chairman of the Korea Professional Baseball Players Association, Lee Dae-ho (Lotte Giants), determined that the charges for the assignment of former chairman Lee were not admitted.

According to the police on the 7th, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul decided on the 31st of last month to reject all the suspects, including former chairman Lee, former secretary general of the athletes association Kim Tae-hyun, and advisory lawyer Oh Dong-hyun. Earlier this year, the prosecutor’s right to investigate was adjusted, so if the police determine that the alleged crime is not admitted, the case can be closed without sending it to the prosecution.

Former Chairman Lee was criticized at the end of last year when it was known that he had received an increase in sales expenses from 24 million won to 60 million won to his personal account. After the controversy broke out, former chairman Lee took responsibility and resigned, and former secretary general Kim Tae-hyun was dismissed.

At the time, former chairman Lee said, “All the players who were mentioned as presidential candidates expressed discomfort, and opinions on the increase of the boarding cost were gathered in order to strengthen the election of the chairmanship.” “Because I did not know who would be elected as chairman, I paid the boarding fee myself for my own interests. It’s not an impression,” he explained.

Later, on December 15, last year, lawyer Park Ji-hoon of the sports civic group’People and Movement’ filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office on charges of appointing former chairman Lee, former secretary general Kim, and lawyer Oh for business purposes. Former chairman Lee and former secretary-general Kim were suspicious of receiving the remuneration of the athletes’ association and the boarding fee, and attorney Oh was suspicious of having performed an accounting audit at a high price. The case was transferred to the police at the end of last year.

A police official said, “In the case of the accusation, the accuser must be present and explain the case, but even though I contacted several times, they did not continue to attend the police,” he said. “We ended the investigation because we were not able to specify the crime.”
