Ulsan Together hydrogen charging station completed… Establishment of 63km of pipeline network for hydrogen charging stations by ’30

[에너지데일리 조남준 기자] The world’s third and the first in Korea to build a hydrogen charging station where hydrogen can be constantly supplied through pipes, like city gas, has been built and started operation in earnest.
The Ministry of Environment (Minister Cho Joong-rae) announced on the 30th that the’Ulsan Together Hydrogen Charging Station Completion Ceremony’ was held at 101 Shinhwa-ro, Nam-gu, Ulsan City, where hydrogen is supplied through a pipe.
The completion ceremony was held while additional quarantine measures were implemented, such as minimizing the number of participants, wearing masks, and installing dedicated booths to check fever, in addition to the quarantine rules in accordance with the administrative measures in the second stage of social distancing.
Ulsan Together Charging Station is the first case in Korea to receive hydrogen by connecting a pipe (1.3km) from a hydrogen production plant, and by world standards, it is the third in the world after Fukuoka Kitakyushu in Japan and Torrance in California, USA. It is expected to become possible.
The charging capacity is 770kg per day (55kg/hour, 14 hours operation), and 130 hydrogen cars can be charged a day, which is expected to greatly improve the convenience of hydrogen car users in Ulsan.
In addition, according to the Ulsan Metropolitan City Hydrogen Pipe Network Construction Plan, if hydrogen pipes are built in the city center with a total length of 63km by 2030, it is expected that hydrogen charging stations with a pipe transfer method will be built throughout the city.
By transferring large amounts of hydrogen, which had been supplied by large vehicles (tube trailers), through pipes, vehicle transportation costs were reduced, and parking spaces for large vehicles were not required, making it possible to build a charging station on a narrow site.
Meanwhile, according to the Green New Deal promotion plan, the Ministry of Environment plans to build a total of 310 charging stations, including 250 in the city center and 60 on the highway, so that hydrogen car operators will not have any inconvenience in charging.
To this end, we are promoting a plan to focus capacity between related ministries through the’Training Unit for Hydrogen Charging Stations (T/F) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Trade’, and to introduce special cases of permission and permission to build a charging station for quick approval and approval.
It is also revising related laws to expand the location of hydrogen charging stations, such as improving the restrictions that allowed only the owners of existing sites in the green belt to install hydrogen charging stations.
In addition, the Ministry of Environment plans to induce active participation of the private sector by supporting hydrogen fuel purchase costs from 2021 to resolve chronic operating deficits.
Meanwhile, the current standard hydrogen charging stations are Seoul 4, Gyeonggi 9, Incheon 3, Busan 2, Gwangju 5, Daejeon 1, Ulsan 13, Chungbuk 4, Chungnam 6, Gyeongbuk 1, Gyeongnam 5, Jeonnam 2, Jeonbuk 5, Daegu 1, Sejong 1 In total, 63 aircraft are built, including one in Gangwon.
