[에너지경제신문 김연숙 기자] Large-capacity hydrogen charging stations will be built in Incheon and Ulsan within this year for the introduction of 10t-class large-sized hydrogen trucks.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 25th that it has selected these two local governments to implement the project to build a large-capacity hydrogen charging station this year.
Since last month, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has conducted public offerings targeting large and basic local governments across the country, and selected these two institutions as business operators based on the feasibility of the business, location conditions, and facility utilization and operation plans.
The project cost for the construction of this hydrogen charging station is 5.7 billion won per site, and the financial resources are provided at a 7 to 3 ratio of national and local expenses.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is pursuing a pilot project for hydrogen freight vehicles in accordance with the roadmap to revitalize the hydrogen economy announced in January 2019, and plans to operate five 10t class vehicles by next year.
An official from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, “This construction of a hydrogen charging station is the first charging station necessary to promote a pilot project for a hydrogen freight car.”
The cities of Ulsan and Incheon are planning to build hydrogen charging stations at truck rest areas near ports or industrial and logistics complexes within this year.
Ulsan selected Sanggae Freight Car Rest Area in Nam-gu, and Incheon selected Incheon Freight Car Rest Area as the business site.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to establish a cooperation system with local governments and other local governments to ensure that the hydrogen charging station construction project is carried out without disruption, to check the progress at any time, and to gradually expand the scale of the hydrogen charging station construction.
