For the first time as a judge, the deputy of the Busan High Court chief judge Im Seong-geun, who was impeached for the first time in the history of the constitution, filed an appeal against the judge of the Constitutional Court, Lee Seok-tae (14th Judicial Research and Training Institute), the chief judge of the impeachment trial, but was dismissed.

According to the legal community on the 8th, the Constitutional Court decided to dismiss the request for challenge received by the former vice-president Judge Lim on the same day.

Previously, former Vice-President Judge Lim filed an appeal against Lee on the 23rd of last month. Judge Lim’s main reason for impeachment is’Intervention in the trial of the Sewol ferry’ and’whether or not to intervene in the trial of the arrest of lawyers in the democratic society’, and the reason for the refusal was that the judge was deeply connected with both the Sewol ferry and Minbyun. do.

Judge Lee is a former co-representative of the Participatory Solidarity with President Minbyun. In the past, he served as the chairman of the Sewol Special Investigation Committee. When Judge Lee served as chairman of the Special Assistance Committee for the Sewol ferry disaster in 2015 and 2016, he argued for external pressure from the government and fought for tents and hunger.

Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court initially tried to proceed with the pleading preparation procedure in the case of the impeachment trial of former vice-president Lim at the 2:00 p.m. judgment of last month.

However, the Constitutional Court delayed the scheduled pleading preparation procedure for hearing an appeal against Lee. As soon as the result of the request for evasion came out, the Constitutional Court will immediately reschedule the pleading preparation procedure and notify both sides.
