Robert Abrams, commander of the ROK-US Combined Forces and USFK commander, revealed plans to deploy an additional’two elements’ for defense of ballistic missiles on the Korean Peninsula this year.

The US Department of Defense’s’DOD News’ and the Voice of the United States (VOA) broadcast on the 10th (local time). “One has already been deployed in Korea, and the other two will be deployed this year to dramatically improve ballistic missile defense capabilities.”

It has not yet been revealed what the three abilities are. However, one thing that has already been deployed in context is presumed to mean THAAD (high altitude missile defense system) temporarily deployed in Seongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Commander Abrams said, “Any alliance has difficulties, and the fierce ROK-US alliance is no exception.

It means that the difficulties of’training restrictions’ were indirectly discussed while the computer simulation-based combined command post training (21-1 CCPT) is in progress. Commander Abrams is reportedly dissatisfied with the combined exercises conducted by computer simulations.

However, in relation to this issue, the Ministry of Defense of Korea has repeatedly expressed its position that outdoor maneuvering training is distributed throughout the year. Defense Ministry spokesman Bu Seung-chan emphasized that “outdoor maneuvering training is distributed throughout the year without focusing on specific periods, and is being conducted in a balanced manner.”

Meanwhile, US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, who comes to South Korea on the 17th, is known to be considering visiting the DMZ or the USFK command post during his visit to Korea. The specific schedule will be coordinated by the American advance team coming to Korea soon.
