Chung Kyung-shim, a professor at Dongyang University, who was handed over to the trial for suspicion of a child’s entrance examination and private equity funds was sentenced to imprisonment at the first trial.

The Seoul Central District Court, Department of Criminal Agreement 25-2 (President Judge Lim Jeong-yeop, Kwon Seong-su and Kim Sun-hee) sentenced Professor Jeong to four years in prison and a fine of 500 million won on charges of violating the capital market and financial investment business laws on the 23rd. It also ordered an additional collection of 130 million won.

Earlier, the prosecution asked Professor Jeong for seven years in prison, a fine of 900 million won, and an additional surcharge of 164,000 won.

In September of last year, the prosecution charged Professor Chung for fabricating the Tong Yang University citation (forgery of private documents). Afterwards, 14 additional charges were applied, including irregularities in the entrance examination of children, corruption of private equity funds, and manipulation of evidence, and Professor Jeong received 15 charges in total.
